When it comes to fusing genres within modern metal, Minneapolis-based Near An Open Flame -- Lucas Hakimi (Guitar & Vocals), Jake Anderson (Vocals), Tyren Hines (Guitar & Vocals), and Isaac Anderson (Drums) -- has created the perfect blend of metalcore and
hip-hop/pop. Fresh out of high school, Near An Open Flame released their first EP, “7Days Late”, in 2018, which was followed by the national “Into the Void Tour”. Opening for bands such as Miss May I, We Came As Romans, and Suicide Silence, Near An Open Flame has earned their stripes within the metal community, with Twin Cities Media praising their “hard hitting break downs and intense stage presence”. They’ve created anticipation for their debut album amongst their fanbase. While maintaining their metal roots, they’ve combined the sonic elements of current hip-hop and pop along with the authenticity of rock. Near An Open Flame’s 13-track debut album not only pushes the boundaries of the metal genre, but encourages other artists to push the boundaries of set genres.
